For this very reason, ECOtrend Collagen Interior Paint was certified by Greenguard under their most stringent program, Children and Schools.
The collagen used in ECOtrend's interior paint is derived from food processing centers where the egg yolks and egg whites are already used as food ingredients. The eggshells are cleaned, dried and are then ground into a fine powder. With the use of a centrifuge machine, the eggshell particles are separated from the egg's membrane (collagen). Through innovative technology the collagen, is used as the main natural ingredient and binding agent to produce ECOtrend Collagen, a natural environment friendly paint.

Third party certification organizations such as Green Seal and MPI focus on what is in the paint while others, like CHPS (Collaborative for High Performance Schools) and Greengurad are more focused on what is emitted from paint.
